The Crystal Goblet

The Crystal Goblet concept is an approach developed to emphasize the importance of treating yourself and others with positive regard. The seeds of healthy self-esteem and relationships are cultivated through positive attitudes and behavior. We live in an environment of many diverse individuals, groups, and life situations. We are and will continue to be an interdependent society. Our dialogue and behavioral experiences are the essence of the quality of our future. The value of human growth and development is confirmed through the interaction we have with others. As we engage with others, our sensitivity and subsequent actions are reflective of how we would handle a crystal goblet verses a paper cup. It is also a reflection of the honor and respect we have for ourselves.

The Crystal Goblet concept is a breakthrough strategy to how you can make a difference. Esteeming all others through honor and respect is like being a prominent gardener of the world’s special flower garden. As the special gardener you are responsible for nurturing the seeds and handling the growth of each beautiful and unique flower with the care of holding a crystal goblet. Cultivating them with a positive attitude and behavior. You are responsible for protecting each individual flower from the invasion of weeds and disconcerting treatment discriminately projected at a paper cup.

You can make a difference, one seed, one flower, one positive attitude and behavior, one crystal goblet at a time. Protecting the integrity of yourself and others can be the beginning of a healthier individual, family, community, State, and Nation.

Summary

To explain the Crystal Goblet Concept, I will be using the wedding as a metaphor for any form of relationship. To build a healthy community of relationships whether it is family, corporate, education, church, or friendships, treating others with the respect of intimacy and integrity of a newly engaged couple is fundamental.

01. The Engagement

Story Book Engagement: When two people meet and they know from that moment there is something special about each other there is a special connection that begins the relationship. They believe there is a reason for the connection and everything they do is done with intentions of enhancing and building the relationship. As seeds of trust, respect, integrity and intimacy are planted, an engagement of promise is made.

  • What brings people together?
  • Seeds for enriching healthy relationships.
  • The value of a promise.

02. China Set

Old Tradition – selecting the china set: For many years, an old tradition of the bride and groom as they begin planning for the wedding was to select special china. China has traditionally been the centerpiece of wedding registries. Most often, it is reserved for special occasions or fancy events. It is something kept forever or maybe passed along to your children. Although it can be a big investment, whether fixing a four course meal, or ordering pizza, the elegant tableware can be the center of any table setting.

  • Investing in relationships.
  • Merit and distinction of relationships

03. The Wedding/Marriage

Making the commitment to one another: Through the engagement stage, an opportunity to further establish the relationship. While planning the wedding, the couple spend time together focused more on the marriage rather than the wedding. They are in agreement that the wedding is a formal presentation to share the experience of their unity with others. In marriage, the connection deepens with love and passion. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fails.

  • Relationship commitment.
  • Characteristics of long-term relationships.
  • Intimacy in relationships

04. Setting The Table

A presentation for special guest: After meeting, getting engaged and the wedding, the couple looks forward to inviting special people over to sit at the table with the special china. It’s not that they are experienced with cooking exquisite meals yet. They have what they need to show their guest they are special. Some days they may be serving ordered in pizza, other times it may be a special steak dinner. It’s not the guest who determines the meal, it’s what they happen to be having for dinner that day that determines the meal.

  • Special invitation (All invitations should be special).
  • Classifying relationships/discrepancy (Be careful not to discriminate).

05. Dinner Conversation

A conversation of joy, laughter, and respect for everyone at the table: As everyone sits at the table to enjoy a meal that has been sit and presented for special people, the dessert is not necessarily the ice cream and cake served after the main meal, but the conversation throughout the meal. The tone of each person’s message, the positive and inspiring message that connects each person together can build and strengthen a small community that can spread, touch and enhance other communities.

  • Communicating with love.
  • Communicating by listening.
  • Communicating to learn.

06. Crystal Goblet

The effects of Crystal Goblet treatment vs Paper Cup: Along with the special china, crystal is one of the most popular drinkware with an elegant table setting. Crystal goblets rather than paper cups, add a special touch to the table. Whether it is during a special dinner, a meeting, or just a general conversation, how someone treats others, as well as, themselves is essential. There’s an old saying “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.” This statement couldn’t be more false. Just like rough or brutal handling of a crystal goblet can damage the goblet, rough or brutal conversations can damage the emotional well-being of someone. Just as a crystal goblet is held with more discernment than a paper cup which is treated with a lack of concern and discarded, conversations with others should be regarded with the discernment of handling a crystal goblet.

  • Caring about relationships with the care of a crystal goblet vs a paper cup.
  • Caring about self with the care of a crystal goblet vs a paper cup.
  • The augmentation of applying the Crystal Goblet Concept.
